Amethyst is a versatile, modular and fully 3D-printable AUV frame design. Thanks to its 3D-printed origin, it is finally an affordable platform for every maker wishing to create and operate semi-professional grade underwater craft. Advanced modularity makes it easy to modify and customize its configuration to meet virtually any imaginable goal. You can make it sophisticated and smart for serious archaeological missions, or incredibly simple just for weekend fun in the pool. Thanks to its light weight and small size, it can be run right from the beach, a pier or an inflatable kayak. The design consists of 23 smaller 3D-printed parts screwed together, so an ordinary printer can make it. And you can print it from eco-friendly PLA.
It can be reconfigured in minutes. Just rearrange and screw the parts into whatever shape you like. Think U-Transformers :)
Whether you print on a cheap Chinese FLSun or a professional Ultimaker, Amethyst is designed to be built from small parts that always come out working well. Parts are specially crafted to be printed without supports wherever possible. While still rugged, filament-saving approaches were applied as standard.
